Consultation With Master Interior Designer Katrina
Get To Know Me!
When did you realize you had a passion for your profession?
As a young child I would go to work with my Mom who would buy, rehab and flip properties for a living. I loved getting to go with her on weekends and after school to help pick out flooring, paint colors and finishes that would be used in the homes. This is ultimately what led me to my passion, interior design and remodeling. I also have my Real Estate license so when I found my work home at Edinhart Realty & Design, it was a match made in heaven. I love that I can combine my passion with both design and real estate, while working with an amazing team of people.
Interior Design Professionals are typically experienced with a variety of styles. Describe your favorite spaces you have created:
I love Modern/ Contemporary Design. My favorite space that I designed and renovated was a rehab project where the owners had a ranch style home. We transformed it into more of a modern contemporary style. We knocked down walls and created more angled spaces and took out a lot of the rounded arches and curves and replaced them with sharp edge lines. The colors and materials were taken from dark to light by using much cooler colors, finishes and making the spaces brighter and more open to the natural light.
Favorite places you have visited that sparked your artistic side or inspired you to design:
I love to travel and I would have to say so far Bali has been my favorite destination. I love the way they use their natural resources to build and design their structures and homes there.
Your top 3 favorite foods to eat if all food was equally healthy:
Pizza
Sushi
Seafood
Any other languages you are fluent in?
I grew up speaking both English and French. My Mother’s side of the family is from Paris and most of them do not speak English so I learned both languages at the same time. I had a strong French accent until I was about 8 years old.
Fun fact about you:
I enjoy traveling and learning about new places and cultures, the design, food, language and traditions. It is so interesting to see how different cultures live and go about their daily lives. I try and take my favorite of each to incorporate a little of that in my daily life as well.
