Experience declared:

Bachelor of Fine Art, in Studio Art. Bachelor of Science, in Sustainable Food & Farming. Associates degree in Liberal Arts, concentrating in photography. Wilderness First Responder Certification through NOLS. And Snowboard Level 2 from PSIA-AASI western division.

Practicing in the field since before 2010

In 2015 I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with two bachelors. One being a BFA in Studio Art and the other being a BS in Sustainable Food and Farming. Since 2014 I have been practicing my artistry through work with the National Park Service- I worked in the Yosemite Museum and was also an interpretation park ranger for 5 seasons. There I completed illustrations for site bulletins. These were used by the general public to help them correctly ID indigenous plants and animals. I was so grateful for this position as it merged my experience as an and a botanist seamlessly. I say I have experience with lighting because in a museum setting it is essential for a piece of artwork, of any medium, to be properly lit. And I have done this work. Proper lighting brings respect to artwork and allows the viewer to engage as intended. I have experience as a landscape designer through my formal education as a farmer, permaculturist, and park ranger. (I more recently have grown an absolute forest of lettuce and tomatoes in my self made raised beds.) In my education and working positions, it was essential for me to have an in depth understanding of indigenous flora and fauna. My knowledge of these living things even extends into geology and soil sciences. I understand what elements comprise environments and ecosystems so that they can function without human intervention; the ideals around permaculture. Along with my the studies of a natural world, I have continued to work as an artist... independently and in hired positions. I maintain a website where patrons can visit to request things like customized oil paintings, digital graphics for businesses, or layout designs for banners. I also share my most recent works with this site which are all available for purchase, unless otherwise noted. Throughout my entire lifetime I have been using the medium of paint as an expression of self, an expression of the natural world, and to create an income to sustain myself.

Get To Know Me!

When did you realize you had a passion for your profession?

I was invited to take a course at my university titled The Politics of Food. Since it was a brand new course, you had to be asked to attend. And in this course I learned about the importance of indigenous and/or endemic plants and animals. I used my skills as an artist to illustrate a corn into a grenade and titled it, 'Food's the Bomb.' It was a critique of monoculture crop systems. After the class the professors marketed the illustration to future students. It helped students understand what the course was about and I believe they still offer the class today.

Interior Design Professionals are typically experienced with a variety of styles. Describe your favorite spaces you have created:

I love, love illustrating wild spaces onto canvas using oils. I've sold a large painting of Yosemite to fill a patron's living room. Another vegetable lover has a small paining titled tiny tomato in her kitchen. A park ranger friend bought an illustration of a painted turtle because it reminded it of her of her childhood pet- it's getting framed now, shipping soon. I'm in the process of painting an Italian villa-esque impressionistic painting for another patron's living room. They're excited and the painting will be done in a month or so (oils take a while to dry before shipping- this one is going to Massachusetts!)

Favorite places you have visited that sparked your artistic side or inspired you to design:

Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes, Ivabell Hot Springs, Lava Beds National Monument, Mono Lake, The Devils Postpile, the top of Half Dome, Tuolumne County, Golden Gate National Park, Thousand Island Lake (the head waters in the Sierra Nevada for all water in Sacramento and the Bay Area!), and basically any part of the Sierra Nevada.

Your top 3 favorite foods to eat if all food was equally healthy:

Lobster (as an ex New Englander should say), deep fried softshell crabs, and homemade baklava

Any other languages you are fluent in?

English, and I know elementary level Spanish.

Fun fact about you:

My thesis was about wild edible mushrooms. I can identify, and locate several species up throughout the lower 48. And I know the exact locations in California to find the best one around (in my opinion) the Boletus barrowsii, or white porcini.
