Get To Know Me!
When did you realize you had a passion for your profession?
Growing up, my mom always inspired me with her amazing interior decorating skills. She subscribed to Southern Living magazines and was always moving furniture around the house into creative layouts. She also worked at an antique store where I frequently visited her and perused the interesting consigned finds. It sparked such an appreciation in finding unique treasures to decorate your home. Since then I knew I had a passion for decorating and finding pieces that pull a room together and inspire others.
Interior Design Professionals are typically experienced with a variety of styles. Describe your favorite spaces you have created:
A recent large basement remodel is my favorite space I have ever created. It was a big project to take on but so enjoyable. I really took joy in planning the layouts of the rooms and seeing the hard work, from framing the walls out and digging out window wells to picking out the materials that appealed to the client, come to fruition. Before the remodel the basement was dark, dingy, and unfinished. The basement now has two bedrooms, a laundry room, a master bathroom, and a large living space. The overall style is rustic with aged-bronze hardware, dark tiled bathroom floors and subway shower walls, finished off with a warm brown wood floor throughout the space. I kept the walls a simple creamy white so the rooms could flow together as one and add in additional light throughout the basement. It is now a bright and open livable space that is enjoyable to spend time in, adding immense value to the property.
Favorite places you have visited that sparked your artistic side or inspired you to design:
Visiting my family in southern states, specifically my grandma’s beach house and my mom’s traditional southern home.
My time spent studying fashion abroad in Italy because I loved seeing the Tuscan cobblestone streets, colorful exteriors, and great quality furnishings.
Your top 3 favorite foods to eat if all food was equally healthy:
Street Tacos
Southern Barbeque
Sushi
Any other languages you are fluent in?
I am partially fluent in Spanish as I minored in it in college.
Fun fact about you:
- I’m a Georgia Peach! I was born and raised in Atlanta, but moved out to Salt Lake City for a corporate fashion job after college.
- I like to thrift for furniture that is dying to be saved. I love refinishing the unique pieces I find with stain or paint, often adding new materials and hardware to them.
- I love crafting, I have a green thumb and enjoy all types of gardening and cats are my favorite animal.
