Get To Know Me!
When did you realize you had a passion for your profession?
I remember rearranging the furniture in my bedroom, at age 7, and noticing what a huge improvement it made in terms of usable space. I moved constantly as a(n Army brat) child, and every new place became a blank space for me to decorate, personalize, and make feel like home.
Interior Design Professionals are typically experienced with a variety of styles. Describe your favorite spaces you have created:
My favorite spaces feel light, bright, organized, and hygge (comfortable). I love working with materials and decor elements native to a place, such as wood, stone, plants, etc. The Pacific Northwest, where I currently reside, has a cool blend of Mid-century Modern, Contemporary, Scandinavian, Asian, Nautical, and Natural/Green elements that really inspire me.
Favorite places you have visited that sparked your artistic side or inspired you to design:
I lived in Asia and Europe as a child, and they both spark my creativity. At age 4, I remember being in awe at the beautiful silk Crane-embroidered bedspreads I saw in South Korea. At age 8, I stood in front of the Berlin Wall (one year before it came down) and noticed how powerfully art can portray a message. I went on to study Art History in college and found London, Paris, and Florence completely enrapturing and inspiring as well.
